Resilience: The ability to spring back, to readily recover from shock or depression, to grow even stronger in the face of setbacks or harsh conditions, like the flower below. Some people rebound and are stronger for the difficult experience. Others are stunted for life. The questionnaire below helps identify the factors that increase resilience. It helps you identify your strengths and areas that make it hard for you to reclaim your bounce after a life punch — a job loss, a relationship rejection, a failed grade. The questionnaire is adapted from studies from the field of Prevention, asking how we can prevent social problems and increase success.
Following, are crucial life skills and life situations that were found to contribute to being resilient even in the face of setbacks and difficulties.
See where you are on this spectrum and your score will be compiled below. Allow the questionnaire to help you focus on areas of your life that need attention or improvement. There are no right or wrong answers. You are asked only for your own perceptions of your ability in each category.
This information could enhance your self-awareness. It could also facilitate your therapy if you choose. Enjoy the experience. Arlene Kahn
